Thing #20
This video is called "Teddy & Mrs. Thompson". It's a short film about 12 minutes in length but contains a very strong message. It almost made me cry! I'll only tell you that it has strong educational implications with student/teacher relationships. Some parts are hard to understand but the video as a whole was very moving. I really like YouTube. My 10 year old sons loves to watch funny cartoon videos allot. I do have to keep a watchful eye because there are a few that contain some vulgar words. I can envision allot of educational uses for YouTube. If YouTube were applied to the library website, students could view several, if not many, reviews and suggestions about educational classroom materials, books, articles, etc.

:D I'm so pleased that you like this film. I made it a few years ago. I don't think its my best film but it does have a special place in my heart for a few reasons. Probably most importantly is that it seems to be quite popular and people have described it as "touching" and "moving." It is also being used as a teacher training video in a couple of places, not bad for an amatuer film.
ReplyDeleteThe reason it is so important to me is because I had a genuinely miserable time at school. I would even go so far as to say that school had a more of a negative affect on my life. Beyond that of learning to read and write and basic maths skills I took nothing positive away from school. It was due partly to many of the teachers (Not All!!) but many. I don't wish any other children to have that same experience as I did.
